“FIGHT FOR FREEDOM”, DAILY NATION, THURSDAY, 8TH APRIL 2004

The first segment of the Nation Media Group’s serialisation of Kenya’s
pre-independence history appearing in the “Daily Nation” of Thursday,
8th April 2004, was very useful. The three page spread is not
accredited, but it reads like the work of Peter Alexander, a brilliant,
apparently Kenyan, writer with sound well researched and in depth knowledge of
Kenya’s past.

If it is indeed Alexander’s work, then this letter also serves as a
request to the Nation Media Group to reveal the background of Peter
Alexander by carrying a feature on him in both their print and electronic
divisions. Alexander’s depth of knowledge is a rarity in Kenya and it will
be interesting and inspiring to know how he has attained such high
standards.

Mr. Alexander for instance, is credited for carrying a well researched
spread in the “East African Standard” in May 2002 on how and why the
British colonial administration was able to overcome the 11 year old
Nandi resistance of 1895-1905. The need for this kind of quality
documentation in this country and elsewhere, cannot be overemphasised.
