Introduction

Gor Mahia Football club is one of Kenya and East Africa's most storied football teams and is arguably Kenya's most successful team, having won the national league thirteen times, the local cup 8 times , 5 regional diadems and one continental one. The club is based in Nairobi City but draws huge support from fans all over the country. Indeed Gor Mahia fans are among the most passionate and fanatical.

The club was named after a legendary figure from South Nyanza named Gor K'Ogalo, who was nicknamed "Mahia". The nickname Mahia came about because he apparently overcame trials and tribulations using unique powers.

 

 


Nairobi city stadium in Eastern Nairobi is the traditional home of the club.
